Shops changing location?
« on: October 24, 2011, 04:22:32 pm »

Hi out there,

I just try to make my way through the first steps of the adventure mode. After solving my first quests, I had some items I wanted to sell. As the town is rather big, I made a map of it indicating the different shops. Every morning, however, the shops switched! Where amulets were sold yesterday, armor is sold today! Is that normal? Many, but not all, shops are often empty. Is that the effect of hunger/war? Or do shop keepers go to sleep / have a break?

Thanks,
Defferl :)

Every night the shops do get reset for some reason. This allows you to buy more bolts and arrows :)

You can also steal stuff from the empty shops, and then sell it to the other merchants  :o

Hi,

Thanks for the comments! At the first day there was an amulet shop with a mason as clerk. Next day the same guy sold weapons in the same shop...

Blue_Dwarf: "Reset" means that stock and money are set back to their default values? Or is there some variation, so that items can differ?

Best,
Defferl :)

Reset, as in everything on the ground disappears, and in the morning there's something random in the shop, with a fully stocked money chest. Don't leave your stuff on the ground if the night is coming soon.

I think it's completely random. Sometimes you can see a whole lot of shops selling the same stuff, sometimes you'll hardly find one.

Yeah, I think that's the problem of the said "town inventories" not being stored somewhere and related/unrelated to them shops. Once we get real warehouses and moving items between shops and storage, it should go away. Did you notice, were the shop names changing? Maybe it remembers the owner/name of the shop but not the type?

It must be something to do with resting in the location, because I've kept track of shop types and they've never changed on me in cities. Now, there are general stores that will stock anything. Keep note of the *type* of store.

Hi and thanks again!

After some trials I think that only those shops which had a shop keeper at time t change their type at t+1. Shops w/o personnel do not seem to alter. So at time 5 Tequil the Mason sells weapons, while at day 6 he sells armor. The vacant shop next to him always contains food.

Saving and loading a game does not affect shops at all, that seems to be alright.

Although this is not a major problem, it is nasty to search for weapon/armor shops. The bigger issue for me is that it indicates some problem of the program (just for my installation?).

Best,
Defferl :)
