I got a kobold squad stuck outside my gates and a silk dress on a hill behind them, causing my dwarves to repeatedly get butchered when trying to pick it up. Hoping to dislodge them before they pincussion the incoming caravan, i draft 40 dwarves and send them, together with the regular military(10 wrestlers) outside to meet the kobolds. So far i've been able to overwhelm the goblin variety by outnumbering them 2 to 1 so on average atleast one dwarf makes it into melee.
In this case however, the 5 kobolds somehow emptied their quivers several times faster then the goblins could, resulting in them criplling/killing 37 of my 50 defenders before the remaining 13 made it into cc with the front two and pretty much ripped the little buggers to shreds before their friends fled. The militia got undrafted(all of the wrestlers were downed in the fight) and the wounded were hauled back to bed.
Good thing however was that the wounded kept charging instead of sulking back to bed after the first light grey wound. Some of them made it to the enemy lines with 3 arrows sticking out of their chest.
Defenders: 94% incapitated, 86% permanently disabled.
-19 dwarves dead(8 wrestlers)
-24 dwarves bedridden beyond recovery(2 wrestlers)
-4 dwarves bedridden with single red/yellow wounds.
-3 dwarves without any severe wounds.
Attackers: 40% incapitated, 40% permenently disabled.
-2 Kobolds dead.
-3 kobolds escaped without any severe wounds.
I've never seen them fire this fast before, hardly 5 squares beteen successive arrows from the same bowman.
Is it normal that kobolds use gattling cannons instead of regular bows like goblins/elves/everybody else do?
