Patches and animals

Ok...I'm not sure if this is the right spot, but here it goes, sorry in advance if it's not. So I have several modded creatures and kingdoms and I'm a little worried about the next version, usually when a new version of df comes out do you have to start from scratch or can you copy, paste, and edit the old creatures to get them to work with the new version?

Unless the raw mechanics change a lot (and that would be a major version) you  can paste your previous tags and adapt to the new features.

ie: your creatures may work but there may be new tags enabling tracking or psychology.

An extremely useful thing for this purpose is the file_changes.txt file, which includes all of the raw changes from version to version.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
