"running in F14" means that he's running Fedora version 14, which is two releases behind current (which is 16).

And if I recall correctly, F14 isn't supported any more, or will no longer be supported very, very soon.

Ah, that would make sense.  I'll second the suggestion to upgrade Fedora, then.  At the least you'll see improvements in the core system files and possibly supported drivers.
