Not Resting Properly?
« on: March 08, 2008, 03:51:00 pm »

I have an injured dwarf who just won't flipping sit still.
He was injured, and unfortunately Ihadn't made beds yet, so he sat around.  He sat around patiently waiting, and occasionally tantruming, but not moving from that spot.  Finally I got the beds made (as fast as possible, but it still took a while to set up for their production.  maybe 1/2 a season.  Had to deal with fire imp problems elsewhere.), and immediately assigned the first one to him.

As would be expected, he immediately dragged his sorry arse to the bed, and began resting.  I didn't have a bucket, though.  So I set up for wood use and made a bucket... but by the time the bucket was made, I found him insetead about 30 tiles away at the meeting area, with 'No Job'.  Furthermore, when later he finally got back to his room later (slowly, it's his leg that is most injured), he entered the door, then decided to go 'on break' and left.  Now he is thirsty and starving, but won't get back to his bed to be fed and watered, but won't eat or drink.

UPDATE: He took a job, when I assigned the seasonal planting, to plant a seed.  He suceeded.  Then he attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the nearest ledge (3 squares away).  The problem: it was a small channel I use as a dry moat.  Now he is crawling over to the stairs.

FURTHERUPDATE: He died of thirst on his way to the stairs.

My hunter got a mangled lower body after an unfortunate incident with a giant cave swallow. This didn't stop him from walking himself to bed though. It also didn't stop him from getting up and going hunting some more. Every once in a while he passes out and is dragged back to bed before he wakes up and goes hunting again.
