Fixed, bad dl maybe?

Started a new fortress under G, and my miners refuse to dig under a stairway.  I tried placing stairways outside, in a 4x4 room, in a wall, etc. etc.  and they refuse to dig.  Annoying, as some stone would be useful.

Did you put... an UPWARD stairway under the DOWNWARD ones?

Downward, I can see the stone underneath. I even tried a couple of up/down stairways inside my hill, but no effect. I can designate the stone to be mined, but my miners just ignore it.

Ok, it's late and I'm tired, so sorry if I read this wrong.

But as what Torak said.  Once you dig a downward stairway, you need to designate an upward or an up/down stairway right underneath of it.  Or, build one if there is nothing underneath of it.  Maybe you tried that from what you just posted though.

I did try that.  However, the problem is fixed now.  I don;t now if it was a bad download or what, but I downloaded another copy and moved my save files over.  I can mine again.
