are rhinos bugged like elephants?
« on: October 09, 2011, 01:52:12 pm »

i know that currently elephants cannot eat fast enough to not starve, but what other animals have this problem?
specifically, do rhinos?
I'm thinking of embarking with a couple.

Rhinos as well. They will eat trees later on I think, like elephants. They're not "bugged" it's just they only eat grass when it seems Toady intends for them to eat trees too.

You can set their grazer tags to 25, that should keep them alive while minimizing mod levels in your game, if you're against that.

Elephants, Rhinos, Giant Moose and AFAIK Draltha too can't eat enough to keep up with their needs.

Hence why I edited that when my war elephants started dropping dead of starvation. It's a fairly simple edit and totally worth it.

I jus added +100 to the grazer value of all grazers. Elephants and rhinos still need large pastures, but they are feedable that way. And things like alpacas and smaller barely notice the extra 100 grazer. I still don't keep grazers very often though. Still far more work to keep them fed vs what I get out of them, so under the butcher knife they go as soon as I get them.
