The Peasant is caught in a cloud of boiling magma!

However, there's no magma anywhere near where the cave-in happened. WTH is going on? The collapsing thing was a construction made of a magma-safe stone as well...

same sometimes stuff like this happens, once when i was doing some cave-ins to breach an aquifer one of my dwarfs got caught in the dust and somehow he got hit would obsidion and boilding magma. The magma is a WTF because i was droping clay but the obsidion was semi oooookkkkaaaay because the there was some obsidion around 2 z levels down from were the cave-in landed.

First of all, wrong forum. Second of all, that's just what the dust is called. He won't catch on fire. Third of all, you missed, drop another wall on him.

I don't think he was trying to kill him intentionally, accidentally maybe. And wasn't that a gameplay question? (Forgive me if I am totally missing the point there.)

The magma cloud thingy happens along with the dust. It's part of every cave-in, you just don't see it.

If you think this is excellent, a question about pumpstacks and dwarven power generators is gonna BLOW YOUR FUCKIN' MIND.

It's a bug - clouds of cave-in dust report the material's GAS state name ("boiling magma") instead of the material's SOLID_POWDER state name (for most stones, the same as the SOLID state name, which is the name of the stone itself).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Ah. Thank you all. I wasn't trying to kill him; after all, I'll need all the dwarfpower I can get for my pyramid arena.
