No nobles?
« on: September 27, 2011, 08:59:57 pm »

I'm relatively new to Dwarf Fortress, and have never had a noble past baron. I made a new world/fort with the intention of climbing my way up to becoming the mountain-home, but I noticed I haven't even been offered to become a barony yet. I really like my embark, and hope that it isn't a glitch, but it's been 3 years now.

Some stats:
I'm using Lazy Newb Pack
The world year is 208 (I embarked in 205)
All races have multiple civilizations

Created Wealth: ~1,000,000
Imported Wealth: ~14,000
Exported Wealth: ~400,000
Population: Was at 108 until a recent seige. Now it's at ~85

If anyone can tell me why I haven't gotten any nobles yet, I'd appreciate it. I really don't want to leave my current embark yet, as it's perfect.

Have you had any liaison visits from the dwarven civilization at all?

I've had the visits where they ask me what I want from them, I don't know if those count. I haven't had the one where they ask me to become a barony though. I've also offered them ~100k worth of crafts.

EDIT: Could you guys tell me when you start getting nobles? I read the requirements on the wiki, and if the minimum population is 20, it seems like I'm long over-due. Does world age factor into it? (maybe if the civilization isn't huge it doesn't want a barony?)

My suggestion would be to just wait  alittle longer. World age has nothing to do with it, I'm on year 11 and I am a County in my current fortress.

Uh... over 20 just means you can optionally have a sheriff and the manager actually needs to sit down at a desk to verify job management. Over 50 and you have a mayor. I don't remember getting Barons until I was maybe 80-ish in population and it was year 4-ish.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.
