Newbie Player - Questions
« on: September 19, 2011, 08:00:33 pm »

Hey guys, really enjoying LCS at the moment. I've got a couple of issues however.

Whenever I assault someone I seem to get a CTD. I've had it happen twice with a police officer and once with a gang-member. Is this a known issue or is there something I can do about it?

Secondly, if I wanted to make the largest possible (and most efficient) crime squad, how would I go about it? Should my founder only recruit a secondary tier of people with high leadership?

Finally, judges. Can they actually be recruited or do you have to seduce them? On my 12ish Persuasuion character I could easily get liberal judges to come by the next day but they'd always get scared off by my founder sounding insane.

One you got a old version I can tell by the leadership mention and download the one in the sticky and on judges keep pressing the buy stuff option until recruit opens up.

Second, you should have your founder recruit sub-leaders with good juice and amazing heart, who are the only people that ever make contact with him/her, else your paper cutout liberals will sell out your founder when they get arrested. I believe there is a cap on how many liberals one can recruit, so having these sub-leaders is key to expanding your squad beyond any needed amounts.

I downloaded the version from the sticky. I only mentioned leadership as that's what I saw it referred to =/

So judges have to be bought stuff? Greedy sods. Is there anyway to dismiss a liberal then? I accidentally recruited someone who is 30/70 Wisdom/Heart.

You could send him on a suicide mission to the army base, alone. If not, throw a guitar his way and make him play music for the rest of his days.

You shouldn't be getting a CTD when assaulting people. Did you compile from the source code, or download the game? What operating system are you using?

You can get an infinitely large squad in theory, though it'll get unmanageable. The main factor in how many recruits you can get without having a very deep hierarchy is how much juice your characters get. If you use seduction or kidnap-and-enlighten, you can bypass the normal recruit caps. Seduction has its own limit, based on the seduction skill of the person recruiting, and kidnapping has no caps. Leadership shouldn't be in the game anymore, and you don't have to worry about who you recruit in terms of eligibility to be a leader; just make sure you grab people you can use and get lots of juice for your characters.

Try to avoid recruiting so many people that it becomes a hassle to manage -- your goal should be to have enough people to carry out your strategy, rather than just having hordes. The more people you have, the easier it is for police to find your safehouses. This isn't a huge threat, but it's worth not recruiting huge amounts of fluff recruits.

Judges are recruitable, but they're less inclined to radicalism and have significantly higher difficulty.

I wouldn't sweat wisdom/heart ratio too much unless you're planning on having them on the front lines against judges, CEOs, news anchors, and the like. There's only a few enemies that can attack your character's wisdom stat, and unless you run into them (and don't have high juice) you're pretty safe.

To expand on the CTD issue; I'm using the full download version and I've tried it on both Vista and XP with crashes occuring on both systems. On the XP system the crashes occured when seducing programmers from the Net Cafe, on the Vista system it primarily occured during fights, twice with police officers in the crack house and once with a gangster there as well. On XP the fighting seems to work okay. Is there a log system for LCS? I can't find it if there is.

As an update I'll include the fact that I was running the game from a folder on the Desktop in both situations. I also have Avast installed on both systems. I doubt that will offer any useful information but it's there if you need it.

The programmer one seemed to occur upon exiting Net Cafe with multiple Liberal Programmers having been seduced by a previously seduced prostitute. When I seduced only one programmer or a programmer and a judge it seemed to be fine. If you want I can attempt to repeat the situation later tonight.

You're definitely using a version like 4.04? not one of the 3.xx versions?

I had crashes trying to run the 3.xx versions. Nothing like that in the 4.04 and i recruit mostly at the net cafe.

Using the latest version (the stickied one) I have no problems on my Windows 7 (x64) Desktop and a Windows XP Laptop.

It is definitely 4.04

Of note, on the XP computer I have had no-more crashes but I have only been seducing, so I don't know if that's a coincedence or what. It seems to be okay at the moment.
