I just bought Spore for Steam on my Windows 7 laptop, it ran through everything, and when i reached the galaxy menu, all i could do was spin the galaxy! what do i do?

Maybe you can, y'know, try to click something. Or wait for the menu to appear then click something.

That game's probably the worst hype of its time, but still good for some fun. Although its community is mostly dead by now.

Don't you think i tried that? i sat there for about 12 minutes trying to figure it out, including going online, until i decided to post it here.

So what's the spec of your laptop?

EDIT: Or you can try this: Close Steam, cut Internet, log back on with offline mode, and start the game again. Something might be off with EA's server which Spore depends on for online content.

Tell me if that works.

Clarification: I'm just not sure whether Steam likes its connection cut or not in online mode.

2.1 Ghz, Windows 7, 4GB memory, 500GB HDD. Am i forgetting anything?

It's just not there, i can only spin it.

Uh, I'm gonna be pretty vague-useless right now, cause i have no idea how to get to my graphics listings.

As I've said, cut your network connection and try to start the game again. Might have something to do with EA's server, as I've said.

Spore will try to get you to make an EA account the first time you try it.

It seems not to be launching, it's just saying Launching Spore, but it is responding.


EDIT: the reason it's saying that is that is thought it would be FANTASTIC to start updating just as it restarted.

I just found the BEST FEELING EVER. Having waited hours for a game to download, going through so much trouble to get it going, AND THEN FINALLY PLAY IT! Yeah, it worked.
