Yeah, it's a sort of a placeholder for now. It's still fun to play with. Try standing in the fire while fighting off a pack of wolves.

For some reason, wildlife's pretty rare on my game.

I particularily enjoy setting fire around camps and lairs after killing thieves and monsters.

i like wrestling and breaking and de equiping bandits in the fire and leaving them there to burn to death.

Only current reason in a vanilla DF for plants? Fire, smoke out those enemies!

Trees have a LoS block, useful things.

That, or every adventurer is just too proud to know how to harvest food. They'd rather buy it off from merchants...
