Writing a short sci-fi story, looking for reference material
« on: September 26, 2011, 02:29:07 am »

I'm trying to write a story that has an in-solar system courier ship as the setting, and I need to figure out what sort of time scales I should be using. I seem to recall this really, really great website that had all sorts of space-travel related science on it, among which there was a table of travel times from earth to various places in the solar system at different thrusts. Does anybody know where I can find it?

This story had a slide down a chute. Everybody likes chutes.

That is exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much!

(For the curious, this is the specific document I was looking for.)

Now you can't leave it at that. We've got an in-system courier ship and you need to know travel times . . . and what? A disease onboard that turns all the passengers into paranoid nuts who attack the crew with stolen kitchen knives and send the ship off-course into deep space? A dastardly plot by the ship's owner to sell the passengers as slaves to the M'kugelans? A malfunction in the engine core that sends the ship into an alternate reality so that Mars has become a trans-humanist quasi-Borg collective? What? What? :)
