Berserk Mining Dwarves...

Are terrifying.

I had a legendary miner, and military leader, go berserk in my fortress due to injuries. He camped out in my main hall between my dwarves and their weapon stockpile.

He killed every dwarf in my entire fortress, except for a random cheese maker who merely lost his leg and arm and was left still on the floor in the mining shaft.

Finally, just as my cheesemaker was about to die of dehydration, and I had given up, a migrant wave came in. The first migrant through the door was met with a raging miner covered in the blood of about 50 dwarves, so the migrant kicked him in the shin, snapping the leg in half, and punched him in the skull, forcing the skull through his brain.

 ??? ::)

As a result, my new military leader was named Shinkicker. And, for managing to survive, my one-armed, one-legged cheesemaker was my new mayor, nicknamed Diehard.

Anyone have any good berserk dwarf stories / chance migration waves which saved the day? I've never QUITE had an unbelievable victory-out-of-thin-air moment as intense as that. (P.S. The fortress since then has thrived, with Diehard still as the leader and Shinkicker as my militia leader. It's actually becoming boring, with forgotten beasts and sieges invading and dying, and my stockpile of yeti and goblin cages increasing every season)

Wow that must have been quite something! :P 

And ive only had 2 dwarves go beserk, but my military took them out before they could do much :(

Note to self: place cage traps at hospital entrance from now on.

And, yes, berserk miners can easily be fort destroyers. The best options against them are traps and marksdwarves. Dragons work as well, but collateral damage is a problem there.

Hm... I dunno about berserkers, but one time a group of trolls made there way to a main staircase and just stood there, trolling about. Every dwarf in my fort stood paralyzed with fear until they began going insane from starvation.

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

Miner: My injuries suck... My life sucks... I'm so miserablEYAAAAAARGHEHR
Dwarf: Oh hello Mr. Mine- *Pick through the body*
Dwarves: AAAHH! *stab* AAAAAHH *stabstabstabstabstabstabstabstaabstab*
Cheesemaker: Oh god don't AHHH MY RM AAHHH MY LEG *passes ouT*
Miner: Wander offff rrAAARRGH
Cheesemake: I'm alive! I'm dying of thiiiiiirst
Migrants: We're heeeeere!
Miner: AAARGH ENEMIES
Lead Migrant: AAHHHHH! WE'RE GOING TO DIE!
Miner: AAARRGGHHH CHAR-
Migrant: *kick thump... thud* ... ... Awwwww yeeah!
