Yahoo is trolling me again
« on: September 14, 2011, 03:46:33 pm »

So I have another technological telecommunication problem I decided to share with your interweb people:
I recently created a new email because my old one had a retarded name. I want my old yahoo to send me any mail it gets to my new email so I don't have to check both.
Yahoo decided to charge 20$ a year for that function.
It is clearly trolling me. How do I convince it to send mail to my new gmail without paying for it?

Magic. Or, possibly, purchase Yahoo and mandate the function be implemented for free, though this may be overkill.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Yeah, you don't. I had the same problem when I wanted to start using Gmail as my primary account. Yahoo eventually saved me the problem by my account getting hacked and the password changed, and then Customer Support being utterly non-responsive and unhelpful at recovering my account. So I finally said fuck them and used my Gmail account to email everyone I knew telling them to start emailing me there. On the plus side, I ditched a lot of spammers. They found me again eventually, but Gmail is far better at kicking them to the trash bin right away.

Email your contacts on your Yahoo and tell them your new address at Gmail, then only check the Yahoo one for a while until the emails from the slower people stop.  You probably won't get Yahoo to send your emails to Google, just isn't gonna happen.

Slight irony is that forwarding mail from gmail to any other email address is trivial and free. Can do it on specific filters too if you want.

I hear Yahoo is looking for a new CEO, you might want to try to get hired for that, then you could change it.

Well that sucks, I was hoping there would be some way I'd solve this.
Of course, checking the mail every once in a while and mailing everyone I get a new mail isn't that much of a problem, but still.
I hate Yahoo.
I think this hatred started when I discovered that sims needed to yahoo in order to get babies.

I'm pretty sure in the memory of a sim in Sims II, it is called Yahoo.
This is why I thought that yahoo means having sex and that Yahoo.com was a very weird search engine.

Yahoo is all about the sex. I've gotten most of my favorite porn sites from him.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.
