Dwarf Fort Steam Group?
« on: September 02, 2011, 09:03:45 pm »

I don't know if this exists already. I had a bunch of friends that played DF once. We'd gather in a steam group chat room to complain about nobles, forgotten beasts, goblins and help each others. Great times were had.

If there isn't one already, it could be fun.

There's DFC, The semi-sort of-not really-not quite-official DF community group

It's official. It's just not official official. :P

If you want a crazy group DF conversation/event, drop in on Dwarf Fortress: Multi-player Edition during its next event. That's some crazy stuff.

I used to be in that, but they spammed events/announcements all the time.

There are a lot of events. From what I can tell, it's just people announcing they're going to be playing TF2 and saying everyone else should play. Rarely is there actually a planned event (one that gets announced more than an hour before it starts).

It's not an organized community. It can be a fun one.

Yea I understand that the announcement spam can be a bit much.  If it helps anything I never used the announcement thing.

Maybe it would be better to just have some link to theTF2 server status on the community page or something, then folks would not have to go through the whole 3 or 4 minute load times for the game just to see the server is empty and folks might be less inclined to announce a "get on the damn server" announcement whenever one of us lonely admins show up and sees nobody is on.

That's a good idea. I support it. I never even see the messages, unless I'm playing another game; I keep Steam logged out. I'd be much more inclined to check the community page.

There's also Dwarf Fortress Players. We've got a bit larger community and only post announcements for some dev blog information.
