I've got this blue peahen who's already had two sets of 6 eggs hatch and both times, once the announcement hit, i checked its box and there were 6 more there. AFAIR they were new because i think i had to re-forbid them

is this normal or should i report a bug?

edit - forgot to mention, i did do a quick search, yielded nothing; and the version is .25 - havent played much since it came out, just a quick embark or two and a bit of adventurer, so i might have missed stuff.

I have noticed that many birds will lay new eggs the moment the old ones hatch.  They won't lay new eggs immediately if you remove them before they hatch, so perhaps the timer for hatching is the same as the timer for laying new eggs?

Yeah it's based on the pregnancy timer in that basically as soon as the animal becomes pregnant it lays the eggs. Once those eggs have hatched and the animal is no longer registered as "pregnant" then it can immediately lay more eggs as the timer resets.

well, since the timers are probably hardcoded or in the raws or something, this behaviour seems intentional, so i dont thinking its a bug and i wont report it

it also seems to be common knowledge  so no point anyway
