Well, indirectly, sure, but we already knew that. Public servants gotta buy their condoms somewhere, and their paychecks ARE derived from tax dollars in some measure. If you mean directly, in any way that would make sense to consider as "tax dollars"? I doubt police officers are allowed to charge purchases they make (even while on-duty) to the department unless they can prove that it was directly relevant to doing their job, which probably means bureaucratic hell if you buy anything that isn't on a pre-approved list, at best. I could be wrong on that, but I'd expect that any contraceptives were purchased privately.

Also, I really hope it was consensual. The power dynamic here makes me worry, but hopefully it's just my overly pessimistic mind overreacting.

Actually strategically you WANT to beat up protestors because when a protestor acts in self-defense or causes a riot out of outrage from being beaten up... It makes the protestors automatically wrong and the police justified.

It is one of the criticisms I have for some police action. Heck the police actually once attempted to cause protestors to act in defiance by beating them up but stopped when some of them brought cameras.
