Flooding the map
« on: August 30, 2011, 08:00:02 pm »

The noob strikes again.

Ok so I was going along and decided to make a lake right nexr to my fort (I did a bridge only entrace which I thought was neat.) Will the map actually flood or will water just run off the edge of the screen.

Starting to generate things in this game.  I have to say it is quite fun.

Also punps are kinda hard to determine which direction they are facing.

Water will run off the edge of the screen.  So will magma.  It used to be that magma would not run off the edge of the screen, but this was changed.

Pretty much.  You can't build walls within 5 tiles of the map edge, so you'd have to accept having open ground near the edge.  You could also use raising drawbridges to seal the actual edge tiles, or just channel down the entire map except the edge to make a moat.

There is thatand it might be a better option.

I'm just testing how well I can do a basic fort while learning some of the more complicated things (its open but I can stop the waterflow with a floodgate).

Its hard to see, but my booker is standing on the brook?
