Adamantine Preference affects armorsmithing?
« on: August 30, 2011, 01:05:13 am »

I am looking for another armorsmith and found a dwarf that likes adamantine.  Does that mean he will make higher quality adamantine armor?  Or will this preference not matter since he will be working with "adamantine wafers" whenever he actually makes the armor?

It affects to the amount of happy thoughts the dwarf gets while observing items made from that material. It also may affect the moods as it is possible that dwarf demands the specific material he/she prefers when demanding metals.

If the dwarf likes adamantine (as opposed to raw adamantine), then he should produce higher quality goods if he makes them out of adamantine - both material and object preferences have been known to boost item quality in previous versions by increasing the effective skill level (e.g. a Proficient Mason who likes both Granite and Hatch Covers might produce Granite Hatch Covers as if he were Adept).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
