Beef, Pork, etc

Been trying to get cow meat to show up as Beef instead. I've been able to get it to give me cow beef, but that's a little silly.

Anyone know how to do this? I tried this:

   [SELECT_MATERIAL:MUSCLE] 
     [MULTIPLY_VALUE:3]
     [MEAT_NAME:NONE:beef:beef]
     [PREFIX:NONE]

Still gives me cow beef. I also tried [PREFIX:''], with no luck.

Anyone tried this and succeeded?

Make a dummy creature(s) named "Beef, Pork, Etc" and have those creatures meat name be "(blank)" and with the creatures such as any bovine have its Muscle Tissue point to the BEEF creatures muscle (meat) so when you butcher a bovine you will get "Beef" now with the meat name I donno if this would work  [MEAT_NAME:NONE::] making it blank or would DF find a error in this and require  [MEAT_NAME:NONE: : ] empty spaces? if thats the case you would get "Beef(small space)" as the meat name is just a " " and its referring to the BEEF creatures " " (meat)

I take it you will be doing this with fat? so instead of cow fat, it will just be animal fat/lard?

Not trying to do it with everything. I just wanted to actually make use of the MEAT tag to name specific meats like beef. But "Cow Beef" is kinda silly.

I'm not too hung up on it, so I'm not going to bother with workarounds if there isn't a decent solution at the moment.

It's a nice workaround. Too bad we don't have specific names for ALL kinds of meat :D.

I know, because I know someone would make Escargot. I was thinking of making that workaround for PORK Which could yield HAM, BACON, and the other stuff. Currently I don't want to do all that research if he has abondoned this workaround/idea

Yeah, it's a good workaround. But I was really just hoping for a way to just make the cow meat not prefix 'cow' next to it.

Sounds like it'd be an interesting mini-mod for someone to do, though.
