I have just found a site that has nearly all obsidian rock levels under the surface with gold and sand. A perfect blank slate for anyone after these material's. Plus no aquifer. Perfect for building an obsidian tower/castle and decorate it with glass and gold fittings.

The region is a rocky wasteland southeast of where you should start when looking for sites. The ignited dune.

Nearly any volcano embark will have tons of obsidian, because of the volcanism. Pick one with sand and you have good chances of finding gold with it. This region is not that awesome.

It's not a volcano embark which is what surprised me having several layers of obsidian show up.

I once had an entire cavern layer made of obsidian. I thought, "YAY!!!!! Free swords". But I lost that fort to three giant beetles and a few Crundles.

If that spawn was in 31.18, and was in the default tilesets so I could tell what I was looking at, I would download it. It seems like an awesome map for the giant goblin tower I've been working on.
