So one of my dwarves lost both arms in a battle with a giant badger (HE WAS WEARING FULL FUCKING ADAMNTINE WITH AN ADAMANTINE BATTLE AXE! WHAT THE FUCKING SHIT?), and I resigned him from the military. Now, he wont stop trying to pick up equipment (for what I dont know). I cant read my announcements now because its all about him canceling to pick up his equipment!

Note to reader: Breastplates don't cover the upper arms.

Retire him. Remove him from the military and disable all labors. You won't get the spam anymore; they don't need their arms to eat or drink.

Breastplates aren't worth the Coke it takes to smelt them. They're heavy and don't protect much. Plus I've never, ever, EVER seen an attack that went through a Breastplate but not the Mail Shirt beneath it, and I've done A LOT of arena testing on the slashing/armour properties of each metal (read my sig).
You're better off with a Mail Shirt and Leather Amour than with a Breastplate and a Mail Shirt.
