Cavern Geography

What is the most interesting underground you have seen? (Probably not buggy.) How do you tinker with worldgen to encourage specific undergrounds?

What fun stuff do you enjoy doing there? How soon do you go there?

I like the magma pipes and ledges - it's fun to build a fort on the ledge, overlooking the rest of the caverns.

As far as I know, you can only adjust openness and density. I always keep them at 100 and 0 respectively when in advanced gen; I like open caverns.

I enjoy trolling the trolls down there. I usually go down 1-2 years in, but don't stay - continue on and/or gather any valuable minerals near my staircase.

The wiki has some good pictures of different cavern settings in the advanced worldgen section.
