You strike the goblin in the arm...and it sails off in a arc!
« on: August 04, 2011, 10:20:46 pm »

So we all know (and love) that message that lets us know we have horribly wounded a creature. My only peeve is that IT'S THE ONLY ONE. I understand Toady is busy with the new update awesomeness but does it get bland for anyone else just seeing the same old combat message about decapitations, stabbings, and or other things?

Especially when it doesn't actually sail off in an arc.

"You shake the bogeyman by the left hand, and the severed part sails off in an arc!"
"The left hand remains in your grasp."

When you shake the bogeyman by the foot and the severed part sails off in an arc, it's not the foot that sails off. You're rigth, the foot remains in your grip.
What sails off is the other severed part.

Noah's ark carried two of every animal while Armok's ark carries two of every severable body part.

How else does a limb exit the body, but by means of a sweeping arc, tailing a spray of blood in its wake? It is a glorious and satisfying way to decapitate a villainous foe! If the arm were to perhaps fall off like a sack of potatoes it wouldn't hold that illustrious luster- that epic, poetic grandiose. I sigh to imagine the power once contained in the arm that on being hacked off, protests in a awe-inspiring display of silent dignity, like a dolphin rising from the sun-stained ocean trying to kiss the sun, but instead is greeted by the toothy embrace of the jaws of a tiger shark. It is a mournful swing, a solemn dance, the last shivering effort that that arm can make to show to the world its value and place. In the end, it is just an arm, and its former owner is just another randomly generated man, or a bogeyman, or a goblin.

So I suffer no qualms about there being only one way for an arm to be chopped off, or a hand for that matter.

I enjoy other games, like Nethack. Also I listen to hardcore bands like ampere and we were skeletons and magrudergrind.
