Hi again Kalalification,

I'm up to episode nine now and still really enjoying it, it seems we share a fondness for massively high great halls though I tend to have all of my dwarves bedrooms lining the outside of the multi-Z hall with windows overlooking the statue garden in the center. Have you turned off invaders in your fort? You seem to have been going for a long time without any kind of goblin or megabeast attacks.

With regards to the multi-Z rooms do you mine out the top level, smooth it, channel out the next level down, smooth it etc. until it's done? That's the way I've been going, it takes such a long time. Also, for clearing stone, have you considered flooding water all along the area you want clearing in to a pit that drains off to the map edge? I've never tried it myself but I got the idea from your waterworks. I usually focus on the military for defense and tend to get an ambush by the end of the second year so by the time I get my 60*80*6 hall dug out I end up just mass-dumping the stone but often end up getting half my dwarves killed as the bring in all my supplies from outside and get ambushed. I may have to try your method of lots of temporary areas but I just hate the mess of what get's left behind. Perhaps I'm hurting myself too much by refusing to use anything but obsidian for pots/masonry/crafts (volcano embark with an obsidian farm) and  refusing to use underground crops.

Looking forward to watching episodes nine and ten. :)

Well in some episodes it's off but most of them it's on. My civ is at peace with everyone though, so that's hampering invasions as well.

In response to dealing with loose stone: the hide command is your best friend. I learn that in video 10 I think.
