ive use a macbook to play df on, and i tried bringing it onto my desktop to make it easier to play, but when i did the game wouldnt start. my terminal only stated

so i lose my saves, i have 2 other df downloads in my computer so it isnt really a big deal, just want to know if i can get my saves back

I don't suppose you've tried copying the existing saves over to one of the other (functional) downloads?  I see no reason that shouldn't work unless you're moving between different versions of DF, which should still theoretically work as long as you're moving forward versions and within the 31.xx era.
