[...] I recommend building a wall. most things can't pass walls. Maybe a roof as well.

Not knowing if this applies to those modded creatures, but they might have been flyers.

In which case permanently (or at least until the caravans/migrants are to be allowed in) isolating the innards from the outside might stop them from attempting to path over the walls, but as long as there is a ground path they'll take whatever route they can, inclusive of airborne if capable, as I understand it.

(Again, can be made into a baited trap if you understand how it all works.  Eat the Fortress.  Drink the Fortress.  Live the Fortress.  Be the Fortress.  Be one with it.  [CarryOn]Oooh, you are a one, aren't you..?[/CarryOn])

I have an exterior wall and buildings. So, yeah. I'll set up a small guard to maintain and run skirmishes with anything I don't like and see how that goes.

I now realize that my childhood sucked. I never got anything like that! D:

Once you pass a certain number of people or a certain fort value, they'll start making beelines for your fort.

.......

Anyway if you want to keep building destroyers away just build an outer wall and roof first. Doesn't have to be glamourous but if you're trying to fight giant wasps and bees then not much else you can do to funnel them into traps without a decent military.

Yeah, I manage to dig a few covered trenches that lead to guard towers in the four corners of my ranch. It's looking more like a gulag than anything else. Perhaps that should be the product of my place? Forced labor?

Anyway, what are the rules for shooting on multi-Z levels? Can I do it? Does the shot loose power?

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

It's... uh... how the game works? Not sure what you want us to say. Building destroyers are intent on solely destroying constructed buildings, however surreal it may come off as.

Mostly, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one. I never had it happen before. Other than that, I'm just engaging and validating the opinions of those people who've taken the time to reply.

Ha! I'd sig that, if I had the room left.

No the shot doesnt lose power. It just loses lateral range as a trade off for incresing vertical range afaik.

So if I use double stack outer walls, I can funnel the enemy into my territory without having to waste troops or kittens? Interesting. I could design something like the bocage and force the enemy to take the longest route possible without having to over-expose my soldiers, then once they are within attack range of my towers I charge in and railroad the survivors with a small number of steel clad infantry. Design it around a villa and farms and set the archers to attack everything within range. It's perfect! Marble walls and floors through the artificial bocage, a small number of block houses with light militia assigned to seek out any ambushes, the strong use of a multi-tiered rank and position system meaning that those militia who survive and become skilled make up the backbone of my armored corps. I smell a glorious citadel. Now I need a trademark basilica to even things out and I am a happy man.
