I was fed up with working as a "market research representative". Basically I was the guy who calls you up with a survey and tries to feign politeness. We worked for random companies that hired us. Would call up people using a random phone number thing and ask the questions in a very specific way, and if we made one mistake our overseer would tear us a new hole. Everything was recorded and reviewed by the favored employees.
So as I said I was fed up with getting screamed at for 7 bucks an hour, 4 days a week. Yeah it wasn't even part time, it was part part time. I didn't make friends with the higher ups so I wouldn't get called in to work as often. One day I had a drunk guy on the line and was doing my usual introduction. When he mumbled about screwing a dog, something in my head snapped. I then asked him if he'd like to talk about life. I guess he did, because he went on this long rant about his ex wife and his kids. I listened tentatively and even gave him a little story of my own, as if we were in a bar. It was a nice conversation. Of course the bosses were flipping through active calls and caught on to mine, and soon enough the manager was on my ass. They terminated the call and I was sent into the office with glass windows. What, was this high school? I knew I was going to be fired so I made a scene for my own amusement. Flipped papers around, ran out the glass door and jumped on a desk in one of the cubicles, and started flinging my lunch around at the people approaching. It was pretty fun. I lost the job, sure, but I never got into any legal trouble.
