Do sieges only get worse and more frequent, or do you ever get a breather while the enemy amasses its forces?  It would be great if, after a resounding victory, it takes a year or two for the goblins to muster up another invasion force.

I think they tend to get worse and more frequent until the leader of the goblin civ comes in, if you kill the leader you get a break.
Although I don't play fort mode anymore so I may be totally wrong.

Sieges are hardcoded, and they get worse until you receive four squads of guys. Then the don't get any worse.
