I've had this idea for a while, and that's to sing a song about Dwarf Fortress to the tune of "April Come She Will" by Simon and Garfunkel.
If you haven't heard the song, this is it :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-88vma4Mk6gIt's a soft, beautiful, and poetic song talking about the beauty of the 12 months, and I think this song would be awesome to parody for Dwarf Fortress, but instead of saying things like :
"April, come she will, when streams are ripe and swelled with rain"
I might say something like :
"Slate, goblins you hate, when they arrive to bring you pain"
Or something like that.
I'm really interested in doing this, I know this and a couple other songs that I think would work very well, but I have a dilemma, I suck with lyrics. So that's why I'm asking around here, I'd like some ideas for lyrics, if not lyrics themselves for this parody, because I'm not the most creative dude out there, nor can I even come up with lyrics that sort of rhyme. If you do give me lyrics and I end up making the parody and use them, then I'll be sure to give you credit ( That is if you want it ) in the video.
So, I think the lyrics should maintain some poetry and at the same time be pretty witty. I'd really like to have the listener thinking stuff like "Haha, yeah! Those elephants are a pain in the ass" or "Dwarven Atom Smashers, this guy really does play Dwarf Fortress". You know, really make the song feel nostalgic and true to the game. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but hey, I did my best to explain my ridiculous intents.
Thanks in advance for any lyrics, ideas, or suggestions you make.
