General window size?
« on: July 20, 2011, 08:52:49 pm »

I need some good opinions: does DF generally look better with the default window size, fullscreen, or somewhere in between the two?

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

Assuming you have it set so characters do not stretch, the bigger the better

Bigger so you can see more, and not have to move around to see everything.

How do we prevent them from stretching?

It's in the init, something like [ALLOW_BLANK_SPACE:YES] or something like that.  If it's off, then tiles will stretch to fill the screen, if it's on, you'll get a slim black border if they don't sit flush in the window.  I find the tiny edge to be insignificant at best.

If you're using Phoebus's tileset black space is off by default. Also for a 1680 wide resolution set the zoom speed value to 14 and zoom in one level for optimal zoom without stretching.

Neither of them worked. I think my tiles are being shrunk instead of stretched, anyway I can prevent this from happening?

Use a larger tileset?
I like Haowan's 18x18
