[Gaulgath]

This was in adventure mode. I was on a quest to kill a giant. My team consisted of two macemen and an axemen. One of the macemen, however, had been crippled and lost his weapon (but his arms had healed when we left the map). As we search for the giant we come upon a lizardman who I promptly get my bronze halberd stuck in. Mr. Cripple tries to make himself useful by wrestling it. Well, guess what? Out of all the body parts he could have broken/gouged out/sprained he decides to grab the STUCK IN HALBERD. I twist it a few times in the frogman and he bleeds to death. And then: "you have lost possession of the bronze halberd." [l]ooking at the maceman shows me he is holding it! And yet somehow, it would be a crime if I strangled him. Damnit.

EDIT: When confronted with the giant, he bravely charged it. Despite me sitting on my ass listening to his screams of agony, I was  unable to save him. I got my halberd back, though.

EDIT 2: ...and I die. I have been doing really badly in adventure mode recently. /ramble

"Hey, boss! I found a halberd in this guy's stomach! I will name it George and I will clean it and sharpen it and and..."

Yeah. I can handle all the bugs I find; really, nothing bothers me TOO much... except that when an ally drops their weapon, they go martial-artist from there on. It's upsetting because it happens a lot with swords.

I haven't done anything with buddy item interaction, so all this and more await you.  I'm glad you got your halberd back.

I guess that makes up for the times I talk some "buddies" into joining me, leading them into the Hills of Yearning, meeting some giant lions and sneaking behind a tree and then trading their belongings for a new shield.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, carry extra swords in your backpack!  Adventure prepared.
