Dwarven Heavy Artillery?
« on: July 09, 2011, 08:55:55 pm »

I got a wonderous idea after fighting a goblin seige. you have catapults and balistai, so why not some big artillery cannons? i was wondering has someone done this and if not ow hard would it be?

You could mod in cannonballs, I guess, but they'd still be fired from ballistae and look like ballista arrows.

i was thinking having them fired from a catapult but i would need help with the "explode on contact" things.

It's not really doable. The only way to make something reliably explode is to have it ignite and boil at such a low temperature that you'd never be able to actually make use of it.

Well, you can set it to constantly be at a set temperature.
Also, if you set somethings ignite point low, that doesn't mean that the fire it creates is hot.

If you set it to a constant temperature, it will never explode. That, or it will never be solid.
I didn't know that about the ignite point though.

Plus, it'd be kinda hard to get it from the workshop to the catapult, seeing as it'll be on fire the whole way.

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

could you use the "ignites at just below body temperature" trick for ballista bolts?

You see them coming, you set the forest / grassland on fire and get indoors.
