Well. Dry.
« on: February 11, 2008, 05:40:00 pm »

What exactly causes a well to go " Dry "? I've been using the same well for about 8 years, and all of the sudden despite having 7/7 water in many squares beneath it, it is apparently " Dry ". Do they just have a certain shelf life that they cannot exceed? I only noticed when one of my imprisoned dwarves nearly died of thirst because I had a dwarf sitting at this dry well attempting to fill a bucket for near 3 months before I noticed what was wrong.

There could have been something that got in the way of the well and the water.  I know I accidentally built a bridge over the square I got water from once and it called the well dry.

"K" over to the square the well is on, and then go down one level at a time.  Is there anything in there besides water, the well, and open space?

That's a second bug right there - that dwzrf shouldn't have sat for three montths trying to get water from a dry well.

Nothing in the way, not even a boulder. It's completely inaccessable so there's no way for anything to get in there besides a fish or two. I went so far as to dismantle the well and build another on the spot with completely different materials to no avail, still dry.
