problems with my new embark style?
« on: July 09, 2011, 04:53:12 am »

I've recently started a fort where all i take is 7 miners, 1 with admin type skills as well.
a couple chickens, 7 picks, and all the food and booze i can afford with the remaining points.

any migrants who show up have all labors except for mining turned on and allowed to do as they will.

any ideas or problems i might want to consider in advance?

Life (in dwarf fortress) is a cocophany of flavours, each more succulent than the last - why not sample them all?!

Beds are overrated. DWARVES SLEEP IN THE DIRT!

Poor quality products. Dwarves like high quality beds, furniture and booze. It is unlikely that any dwarf will ever reach legendary status through practice alone, though moods may get you some. Even then, the chance that the single legendary out of your entire fort's population is assigned a specific job is pretty small so you'll be wasting skilled laborers and material.
