Playerlist at the beginning:
1 USA
1 USA space program(optional)
1 Russia
1 Russia space program(optional)
1 company
1 head researcher
[After these have been taken, positions can be awarded as whatever people want. Army commanders, researchers, companies, Stargate Command etc. The only rule is that companies must remain at a 1:1 ratio at minimum to researchers. I.E. can't have more company players than researchers.]
Technologies
Researching or training better skills for units requires a researcher/company to do so. This also applies for spacecraft.
Companies/people come in grades.
1st grade = 6+ on a D12 to succeed (before modifiers)
2nd = 7+
3rd = 8+
4th = 9+
5th = 10+
Grades can be improved only by chance. A random chance each time a company researches a new technology successfully.
Companies/people get paid in lump sums by governments either to research a technology or to buy a technology from them.
You can also replace a company/person for a project, with a -1 penalty to the current progress level. 1/10 would become 0/10 for example.
Every technology has a difficulty modifier to be determined by me based on the difficulty/reward that technology would bring.
Technologies can be captured from aliens/nations in war. Special Ops may be attempted in order to steal technology owned by a government also.
Production
Rocket and capsule construction etc takes a certain number of turns. It costs nothing to be produced, but must be sold. Every production of an item will result in -1 to the companies financial health, and +1 for every product sold. If the health drops to 3 or below, the company will have a 2/6 chance to go bankrupt every turn.
Companies can of course discontinue a product. It cannot be reactivated for 5 turns.
They can also produce several products at once, but the -1 health for each product made is still in effect.
Rockets
Standard rockets can be purchased from the global pool of small time rocket manufacturers. These rockets cost 100 each. The quality is always Low(-1)
Players
Can take a nation, make a company or take a space agency. The goals are different for each, a nations leader seeks to improve his country, a company seeks to create and sell products and survive and a space agency seeks to expand the boundaries of the human imagination. Oh and fight aliens.
People(I.E. head researchers)
...are recruited by companies to research products. They are paid a lump sum in money for this service. They can create their own company costing 100 credits if they wish.
Their grade may increase for every technology they complete researching, and may drop if they get dismissed from one.
Companys can always hire grade 5 researchers for a project for 50 credits.
Stargates
This has just been found. Upon entering the stargate it will cost the government 50 credits every mission. The mission is essentially randomised, the chance of success is also randomised.
Nations can create Stargate Teams, each level of Stargate Ops will give a +1 modifier to these missions.
Missions through the Stargate can gain; Allies, technologies, resources, weapons and other such benefits. It can also bring back through it diseases, enemies, alien incursions, dangerous artifacts and black holes, to mention just a few.
Exploration
Like stargate travel, exploration can be made in a safer way within solar systems by conventional space missions. I.E. sending a rocket to Mars. The benefits are likely to be safer to obtain in regards to alien/black hole threats, but technically demanding and costly. At least to begin with.
Replicators
These are mechanical beings who’s only goal is to make more of themselves, at the expense of everything and everyone else. They turn GDP into units. 100 GDP = 1 replicator 'unit' or spacecraft.
Replicators are resistant to alien weapons(-2 modifier), but vulnerable to projectile weapons(+1 modifier).
If the replicators find a spacecraft or station or planet, they will immediately try and infest/take control of it to harvest its resources or use the ship for their means.
Replicators are dormant at the start of the game. They will be awakened if found in the random mission list.
After this, each stargate mission or space mission has a chance of encountering them.
Units
Creating a new unit/ship/whatever costs 2xmaintanance cost. Any exceptions will be stated.
Setting up a new unit from research costs 100 credits. Example, Stargate Ops-1 was researched 10/10 by soandso, USA offers to buy this technology from them and they accept.
USA pays 100 and sets up Stargate Command or Stargate Teams or whatever they want to call it.
