A lot of swarms of bloody gnats above my food stockpile

I have big trouble. My food roting very fast! In the last werewolf attack killed all of my three cats. Now I have a lot of bloody gnats over my stockpile. How can I kill them?

I'm not even sure if cats can kill gnats... They usually only go after vermins like rats.

Keep food in stockpiles and in barrels whenever possible.  Nothing you can do about flies and their savage/evil variants.  Also make sure you remove rotted items as that attracts more flies.
