Insane dwarves are controllable (to some extent)
« on: April 28, 2008, 04:00:00 am »

When the order "Dwarves stay inside" is issued, all insane dwarves that were happily running around babbling or sitting in the dirt striken by melancholy would rush inside. I suppose, that they should ignore that kind of orders.

I'm not sure this is a bug.

Childred will also follow the "stay inside" order but are otherwise not controllable.

If this gets fixed, pls make sure the fix won't make all the dwarven children rush straight into sieges  :)

More like program in a button called "Force nobles and children outside during sieges".

"Force nobles and children into fortress safety devices"

(i.e., catapults)

There are much difference between insane dwarves and children... Children are not insane!

Insane dwarves will also obey door permissions, and I wouldn't be surprised if they obeyed zone pathing weights as well.

RRRAAAGH!  I will kill every living thing in this fortress!  I will crack their skulls open and pluck their eyes from- oh, wait, the door's locked.  Shoot.

Goblins obey door settings too.

Insane dwarves and goblins respect forbidden doors because as soon as you forbid passage, you magically lock it with your godkey. Goblins can't pick locks and can't destroy buildings, so they have no choice but to mull about and yell at any closed door about its fat and/or ugly mother.

While that's as may be, berserk dwarves can destroy buildings, and thus should rip doors apart rather than stare at them, especially if there's tasty meatlings on the other side.
