i just had to lock my jail cell doors because my dwarves decided they liked eating at non-dining hall designated tables in the prison complex more than the legendary dingin hall i have set for them.

they also like eating plump helmets and such more than my masterwork roasts i have piling up.

too bad i cannot "forbid from eating but allow for cooking/brewing".

Same problem. Wish I knew that when they get hungry, whether they claim closest table, then go after closest food item, or visa versa.

Should you fail to comply, strict !!disciplinary actions!! will be taken. Also, we feel we should remind you that one of the "criminals" on your list is the chief medical dwarf. If he ends up too badly injured to do his job, you will be fired. Out of a magma cannon.

It's likely simultaneous.  Meeting zone your dining hall so the idlers eat there, and try to place your dining hall near your workshops so that anyone taking a break from work will go straight there.

I'm feeding 348 dwarves with 12 tables and chairs, so 29-1.  Dwarves don't really spend much time eating.

I usually do 30 tables, 30 chairs.  Easy to make early on and looks good in most dining rooms.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

Generally 10 tables and 10 chairs for any size fort.  I've never seen them overcrowded, but then I only get up to ~75 max.
