Newb modding question
« on: June 26, 2011, 09:28:00 pm »

I just started modding and I'm not very good at it. I tried modding certain megabeasts to make them appear on the map in herds and be docile towards dwarves. I also tried modding purring maggots to make them appear on the surface like other vermin like rhino lizards would appear in savage biomes. However, my modded creatures aren't even appearing on the map. What I did was make entirely new creatures instead of modding the old ones and put them in a raw file call creature_custom. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Here's what what was in the raw folder

Does the file start with [OBJECT:CREATURE]?

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...
Link for full quote. 'tis mighty funny.

And before [OBJECT:CREATURE] make sure the very first line is the name of the file - in this case, creature_custom. It should look like this:

creature_custom
[OBJECT:CREATURE]
Your stuff here.
