It is likely to miss notifications easily, but age of coming isn't set in stone and RAWs are not holy scriptures, it is possible that creatures are late with growing up. I often check dates of birth with Runesmith, and have noticed that some of my birds and big cats are late.

Another thing that is even further from my experiences... When my egg-hatched creatures mature, it always happens for that entire egg wave, en masse. It's so precise that every one of them matures in the very same step, producing, "A cave crocodile hatchling has matured. x47" message. All the birds do this too.

Again, I don't have anything other than anecdotal evidence for this. Can anyone confirm Saiko Kila's account and force me to raise a bunch more crocodiles for a screenshot? :D

Well, I actually had the cases of children maturing one day or two off (announcement date was on 19th, and they were born on 20th) but on the same day as other animals (who were born on 19th) so it is possible the game likes to couple some maturities together. But I'm sure that they can be also one month or more off of the expected date.

Based on what I read so far, I don't think they're going to mature that quickly.  Looks like you'll just have to have patience.  Maybe you should start a dragon-egg scheme in the mean time?

I just looked at the raws, and both Cave Dragons and true Dragons have no child values.  I'm not sure how that works, but it may mean they can lay eggs at birth.  Either that, or there's no way to harvest the eggs for fertilization.  Regardless, the pet multiplier could almost be worth the dwarves lost.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Since they are not trapavoid (at least Dragons, I had no Cave Dragons yet) they are very easy to capture. But even with [PET] they don't breed, females lay an egg (or three) and sits there. I have one Dragon which has been sitting on her egg for the last nine years.
