Why are you running XP anyway, in 2011?

I use XP too, it uses less RAM then Vista or Win7 I ran 7 for a while but it was too heavy for other games.

OK, cave-ins were always pretty deadly, but with the new falling object damage they are downright brutal.  As far as I can make out from the logs, many people were killed by the flying bodies of other victims.  One baby's corpse ricocheted off three other people, two walls and the floor.

I hear that, but you can buy a new laptop for like $300 that can run win7, or a used desktop for less.
 
I still run XP on my old pentium box, because it doesn't have the memory to run win7, but that box is like 15 years old. No big or old worlds for DF on that box, if I want more than 2 fps ;p .

Alright, so I found out today that downloading things crashes my computer. Yay! So I got a friend to download SP 2 and put it on a flash drive - I can now play Dwarf Fortress. With a few interesting run-ins caused by mods (Who knew digging deeper would make it so my world didn't have any AIR?) I have it up to snuff and working properly. With luck, I'll understand how to actually play this game in a while!

And for those asking, this isn't a pirated version - autoupdater was turned off because apparently large downloads crash it.
