Titan with wings
« on: June 20, 2011, 01:42:00 am »

I have a titan outside my fort, and i was wondering if titans with wings can go down pits (through the statue garden or a garbage dump)
Also before anyone asks i dont have a great military (2 talented dwarves with silver hammers) and 2 dwarves stuck in the statue garden (now walled off)
What do i do (the titan can probly not get in

Winged randomly-generated creatures can fly. Titans are randomly-generated creatures. Creatures that can fly can go up and down through open space. So yes, the titan can simply fly into your statue garden or any other openings you might have in your fort. Better get your main fort sealed quick!

Alternatively, 2 talented soldiers with silver warhammers and even bronze armor can probably take out a Titan. Titans aren't really that tough; normally, it's numbers that cause problems, and you've got the advantage there.

I haven't had flying surface randomly generated critters. Yet. And some critters with wings don't flies, that I can tell. You'd be better off being prepared, though, just in case they does decides to jump in. Titans are usually easy, but watch out for harder materials  :D

I think cages will work on titans, they did when I tried before.  I've got a dragon and a minotaur caged up right now, anyway.  My dragon didn't bother flying across my 1-tile moat, he was polite enough to walk around to my bridge entrance and get into the cage trap.

1. Dragons can't fly in any case.

2. Titans are trapavoid. Cages won't do shit.

Dragons and minotaurs aren't titans.  Titans are procedurally generated creatures that aren't defined in the raws.  Some of them have wings and can fly.  All of them are trapavoid.  Dragons in DF don't have wings and can't fly, and dragons and minotaurs, unlike titans, are not trapavoid.  They can be caught in cage traps, unlike titans.

You can catch the titan if you were able to get a giant cave spider to web the trap. That setup catches anything.

Sounds like I got off easy with my first titan visit.  Only lost one axeman... who charged it... alone.

The fact it's an inorganic titan is much more relevant than the detail it can fly. Inorganics are much harder unless it's made of steam or something.
