The horror of...BUCKETS
« on: June 17, 2011, 05:20:18 pm »

Some of you have probably already seen this.  I just found it and can't stop giggling.  I didn't know dwarves could be afraid of buckets :D

Nyxalinth likes the color blue, gaming, writing, art, cats for their aloofness,  Transformers for their sentience and ability to transform, and the Constructicons for their hard work and building skills. Whenever possible, she prefers to consume bacon cheeseburgers and pinot noir. She absolutely detests stupid people.

Crackpot theory:

I train metalworkers telling them to make lead buckets, and melt them afterwards. When I do something for too long, I may start hating it, so maybe that's why. If their furniture stockpiles were overflowing with buckets, and a few of their moods were buckets, and there were buckets with 9 water everywhere, ... I can see, how they could get obsessed with buckets.

So, quite unrelated yet maybe related, this story is pretty goddamned badass as well.

Upon reclaiming Erushokbod, many battered dwaren skeletons were found in the artifact vault behind broken doors. No sign remained to tell what force committed these horrible acts that killed the great city; no monsters roamed the halls, no gold was stolen. All that remained was the tattered bookkeeper's tome of records, covered in dried bloodstains. The final page is scribbled in hastily written runes:

We cannot get out. We cannot get out. They have taken the bridge and Second Hall. Borush and Dumat and Arel fell there bravely while the rest retr… Erushokbod. We still ho… g... but hope u… n…

Urist’s party went five days ago but today only four returned. The pool is up to the wall at West-gate. The Watcher in the Water took Urist -- we cannot get out. The end comes soon. We hear buckets, buckets in the deep.

They are coming.

Am I the only one that now has a mental image of lines of buckets a la the Sorcerer's Apprentice from Fantasia?
