WTF bible flood?!
« on: November 10, 2007, 05:16:00 am »

I got owned by a mystery flood just after the Dungeon Master showed up. I was filling up a moat for my catapult dudes to chill behind. Then ye Dungeon man shows up, and 10 seconds later I'm looking at a massive, gravity defying wall of water sweeping though my main passageway. This stuff was worse then the floods in old DF; I used to be able to cower behind a channel, but this stuff just filled the gaps, and chased me up ramps and stairways.  None of this new-fangled fluid dynamics either; one biggass wall of 7/7 water.

Oh, and theres another fluid one. Before God decided I was a dirty Soddomite, I was trying to fill a cistern so I could flood the farmland under my pantry. I had put a U shaped depression 1 Z level deep so I could bridge it, and this depression was full to the brim. I had a water-wheel and 2 screw pumps to move the water onward, but the wheel wasn't turning. I flooded it again, thinking maybe the water had to have flow to power the wheel. I made a big muddy mess before somebody got back to the switch.

And one more. I didn't test it exhaustivly, but you can't build underground forests anymore. At least not, like, 10 levels below your starting point elevation. What gives?

That sounds like a funny bug, care to post a movie with it? Biblical floods FTW!

Not experienced enough to help with #2.

But for three, I know for sure that Tower Caps need a cave river in order to spawn at the moment. No cave river, no underground forest. It's been mentioned by Toady that this is due to the fact that Tower Caps reproduce by spores, and can't be traded for yet.

I didn't get a movie of it (never bothered to learn, doh), but I  did take a couple pictures of the carnage after the fact. Compiled, with commentary, for your reading pleasure and for dwarf science!

I love how the dwarves try to swim for safety through a door, only to have the water follow them right through.
