I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

Still need to adjust your starting dwarf count?

Until this gets updated, the following methods also allow you to increase your starting dwarf count:
  • 10-15-20-30 Embark size As the name implies, it allows you to change your embark party to 10, 15, 20, or 30 dwarves.
  • DFusion This package of utilities already includes a "Simple_embark" tool which allows one to "modify your starting dwarf count".
  • See the OP of this thread on how to hack a Windows game to get exactly the number of dwarves you want.
  • See this post on using a hex editor to hack a Linux-based game to get exactly the number of dwarves you want.
