The Goblin Family from 40D....does it work in 2010?
« on: June 30, 2011, 08:52:56 pm »

Have the raws changed substantially enough that the goblin family mod needs updating before use in DF 2010?

If it does need updating, is there a link somebody could point me at that shows whats needed in the new version of dwarf fortress for this to work?  I'm ready for the perma seige from the woodwose again...

except in DF, the "I'll bit your legs off" threat is serious.

The entity files for all of them might need updating, considering that their steel tags and religion tags don't work anymore, that they lack nobility positions, and that their progress triggers probably don't work anymore either.

Also, all the creatures it adds will not work at all and will require comprehensive rewrite.

Just out of curiosity, there are already goblins in .25, why do you want to bring goblins from 40d back in?

It's the five extra types of goblins and assorted elf-like civs that he wants. Although, if you want to be sieged continuously with no modding hassle, I'd recommend the Fortress Defense Mod linked in my sig.

One of the things I enjoyed about them was the peculiarities of the Woodwose. The first part that any severed body parts became a felled log.  The second part that they always came with weapons and armor of unusual metals, even adamantine.  Since I doubt I could update them properly and keep the two peculiarities intact, I'll just use the fortress defense mod.

Thanks.
