Mixed gender animals on newest release
« on: August 27, 2006, 06:28:00 pm »

All of my new games (6) have had two male horses instead of a male and a female.  This is new since the newest release; I remember getting mixed gender since the update where that happened.

I assumed gender mixing doesn't mean every other animal will be of the opposite gender, there's just a much better chance of it happening.  In other words, you're just unlucky.   :p

Or it might've only covered dogs and cats

Yeah, but it was working perfectly up until the latest release.  Horses, cats, dogs, and mules (like that mattters).

Statistically, I suppose there's some chance that it worked absolutely perfectly without mixed gender implementation, and then randomly didn't.  I don't really need breeding horses, but it's a nice touch, and means everyone will have a bit more protein this winter.

While I can't say for sure that the mixed gender implementation is working perfectly now (although I got one each male and female in my newest fort with dogs, cats, and horses), I bought three dogs in my last fort, before this change, and got three males.  So for me, the success rate has improved.

I'm getting this problem with the horses and mules as well, though I'm not sure why yet.

Why would gender even matter with mules?

It doesn't matter, but it wasn't the behavior I was expecting.  I think it has been corrected now.
