It's well known that slade is undiggable, but if I recall correctly it's possible to get rocks of it through careful controlled cave-ins. My question is, can slade then be used in strange moods and is it possible to tweak things so that it is going to be used often? I'd pay quite a lot to have a squad of dwarves with slade maces.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

If you're going to to go so far as mod, I'd imagine it's quite easy just to make it an ordinary metal.

This has been brought up before.  It ultimately comes down to a few issues...
1) must mod to be diggable.
2) must mod to be usable.
3) must be modded to be an actual metal if you want weapons.

For the amount of effort, you could create a new substance rather easily and give it a massive weight.  Which then results in hammerdwarves who can punt goblins across the map, but have to wait until the goblins come up to them, because they sure as hell aren't moving quickly.
